This enables the brand to offer more sustainable products to customers, minimize product impact and support responsible sourcing.
As part of this membership, Macy’s, Inc. aligns with the Trust Protocol’s mission: to create a sustainable standard for U.S. Cotton that is data-powered, traceable and generates positive impact through the global cotton value system – from farms to finished product. To strengthen efforts in sourcing cotton sustainably, Macy’s collaborates with the Trust Protocol, driving positive social and environmental change within the cotton industry and enhancing transparency throughout the supply chain.
Helping to Drive the Next Wave of Progress
Trust Protocol membership has helped accelerate Macy’s, Inc.’s sustainability ambitions by providing access to responsibly grown U.S. Cotton. By tracking U.S. Cotton through the Trust Protocol’s technology platform, Macy’s, Inc. receives visibility into each stage of the production process and verified country of origin.
Macy’s, Inc. has set ambitions focusing on preferred fiber sourcing and supply chain transparency, including 40% preferred private brand products managed by the Macy’s Sourcing Team by 2025 which was achieved in 2024. U.S. Cotton tracked via the Trust Protocol was part of the preferred materials strategy. By the end of 2024, the company converted and traced 13,600,000 units of U.S. Cotton. This contributed to 65% of cotton products within Macy’s private brands managed by the Macy’s Sourcing team being preferred.
